1. 5th house: santan
The 5th house, its lord and the planets sitting in it show the promise of children and the nature of the effort involved. A well-supported 5th lord points to smoother planning, an afflicted one to delay or extra care.
2. Jupiter: putrakaraka
Jupiter is the natural significator of children in Vedic astrology. Its strength, house and dignity in each chart tell us how much support the planet gives, and when its transit becomes active.
3. D7 Saptamsha chart
The D7 is the divisional chart for children. It adds detail the main chart cannot show, such as the supportive phases and how family expansion unfolds.
4. Dasha and transit of both partners

Follow your doctor, every time. A healthy mother and baby matter far more than any muhurat, and no timing is worth taking a medical risk.
Does santan dosh or pitru dosh mean I will never have children?
No, it does not. Afflictions to the 5th house or Jupiter usually point to delay or extra effort, not denial, and medical factors play a large part. Please do not accept a 'never' from anyone, astrologer or otherwise.
